Banished Banner 01.png

Banished was a local co-production drama created in Australia to be aired on the premium drama channel BBC First. Being an important Australian story, the show warranted a high level of promotional activity and off-air visibility. After planning and art directing the creative executions for the artwork, we worked with Limehouse Creative to composite our cinematic visuals for the campaign. This look permeated across all print, outdoor, digital and social media and was also shared internationally for other markets to implement.

KEYART DESIGN

The artwork successfully rolled out into a large scale outdoor campaign in cities around Australia including Sydney, Perth and Melbourne. The visuals had high visibility particularly across bus stations and also at key train stations where takeover sites were targeted to showcase large format designs as well as digital screen animated creative.

DIGITAL

Additionally, digital coverage was integral to the Banished campaign. Digital elements were created from key artwork to promote the show on websites and third party ad spaces while many BBC sites were re-skinned to push the show launch.

In addition, a bespoke media site for journalists was created to provide show details, character synopses and image and video content.

TYPOGRAPHIC STYLE

Throughout all the promotional material, a consistent, weathered style was developed for the typography ensuring all messaging across the campaign felt unified. This worked particularly well for on-air promotions and trailers where we introduced animation.

MARKETING MATERIAL

Finally, the Banished campaign extended to reach journalists and media via the BBC comms team. Working with them, a small budget creative stunt was designed and executed to send out, featuring a standard days rations for a convict in 1788 as well as a personalised letter created to look authentic to the 18th century.

Additionally our key art rolled out into collateral material such as DVDs and other comms messaging.
